Mine has always been Butchart Gardens out near Victoria B.C.
Mrs Butchart started it at the turn of the last century in a stone quarry left behind by her husband’s company.
It’s a must before you die.

You are quite right! We used to go a few times a year and even in the middle of “winter”, it was fantastic!

I have not been there, personally. My sister was, and she was most impressed. I think that is definitely one thing on “The Bucket List”. Speaking of the Bucket List, did anyone see the movie?

What other gardens are on your personal “Bucket List”?

Biltmore Estate. I could care less about the house, etc, but the gardens? Oh yeah.

I keep bringing up “Greenfield Village” ... it is landscaped so beautifully. Each restored house has it’s own landscaping and the village as a whole is magnificient. If anyone gets down this way, I would highly recommend it not only for the landscaping, but a wonderful journey back in time.

Where is Greenfield Village? Is it in Detroit?

I went to cornell university it was interesting, I love Butchart Gardens, Golden Gate Park is I think pretty. We are going to be moving to washington and we are about 45 minutes from Butchart and I’m hoping for weather that grows the things I saw there. Some one said “there sister didn’t like it” I wonder when she was there. It was just so interesting and at dusk they put the lights on and it’s a whole new place. I love this question by the way…Lulu

jroot, Greenfield Village or “The Henry Ford” is located in a suburb of Detroit called “Dearborn”. Here is a link that tells you all about it. We LOVE the historic village; been going there 3-4 times a summer since the kids were little … and before my accident, hubby and I would love to just walk the village, then stop in at Eagle Tavern for a delicious lunch. Made for a wonderful afternoon. My favorite weekend is the Civil War reenactment.

Dearborn is about 4 hours drive from here, so it would have to be a couple day trip for us. When I looked at your link, I do recall taking my son there quite a while ago. He is now 30 years old and an amazing chef. He just called and told me that he is off to work in London, England for a few weeks as an exchange of chefs at the michelin star hotel level. So….as I think now, if I took him he would be about 12 or 13 years old or younger, so that would be almost 20 years ago. Has it changed much since then?

Yes, there have been lots of changes in that time … the craft area has been rebuilt, lot more historic activities, historic sites added, along with others being updated, the train roundhouse exhibit that has been built is fantatic and the village has been all repaved and landscaped. Much more to see and do …

Most interesting cuz we were going to village 20 years ago with our children as well … our kids have FANTASTIC memories from those trips and still talk about them. It was cool when we first became grandparents, to take our first grandchild (in stroller) through the village. LOL!!! Introducing the our next “generation” to Papa’s and Ganma’s favorite place …

And how proud are you of your son!!! What an experience and honor for him!!! Our second son is 30, will be 31 in August. Still blows me away to think our children are in their 30’s!!! Geesh, I remember being 30!!! :-)
