Environmental Impact of Dihydrogen Monoxide

Hahaha…You’re too funny Bob. But lets be careful for those who don’t understand these jokes. When refering to “chemical” substances I generally use the term synthetic because scientifically speaking everything is a chemical…Including water.

Dihydrogen monoxide is simply H2O or water. Bob is being silly here….This hoax involves listing the negative effects of water, then asks individuals to help control the seemingly dangerous substance.

The hoax was created to help people understand how a lack of scientific knowledge in the general public can lead to fears.

You would not believe the number of people from different parts of the world who have emailed me with their concerns about this “chemical” of the past few years.

at one of my places of employment the people who had the WHIMS training came back and labelled everything… they were told that they had to put a label on the water cooler jug as well—can’t remember what the label said but it was a little “over the top” for me.

Was it about two years ago when they said that the people of Walkerton died because they drank too much water? Nice try guys.. nice try.

My daughter taught school in Walkerton a couple years ago and when we went to visit we passed by fields where the cows were grazing and drinking at/around the creeks and ditches. Don’t we learn? Don’t we ever learn? (They are supposed to have the water sources fenced off so the animals can’t access them and pollute them.

Great hoax by the way … I don’t know my oxides terms… would have had me researching!

I would not consider “synthetic” to be a fictitious term for man-made “chemicals” it is in actual fact a more suitable term. I belive plants would not have the same intentions as humans… (wink) $$$$.

There is a minor glitch with the link box on this forum. When you load your link in the space provided the program does not put a space in between the link and the next word in the sentence. This runs the whole mess together and the program can’t recognize the URL.

Bob just hit your enter key 2 or three times after the words and before pasting the pic .It will come up under it as it should.

I was trying to figure out why I’ve never had a problem with the glitch.. I think it is because I type the sentence and then go back and hi-light the link. or maybe that’s not it.. hmm

Deb, mine works about 80% of the time . If I check the code I can see where the space after the URL goes and insert it. The rouble is when it works most of the time I forget to check it.
When I originally posted it did not work when I previeved it so I added the space then thinking everything was golden.
I will try to be more diligent in the future.
