This may be the wave of the future with lots getting smaller and many folks force into apartment living.

See the video too!

I spent several years in an apartment (glorified bird house) and always had a garden on my deck, tomatoes in buckets, trellis beans and peas…......etc.,.

The world seems to be at an impass, at least it is on this side of the pond. Markets, grocery stores, malls and shopping of any sort is designed in such a way that we HAVE to drive to get food, supplies, gas and so on. Good ol urban sprawl continues in this neck of the woods. good farmland eaten up by huge poorly built sub divisons…...............and I just dont get it. Whats wrong with going up….......and not out.

On a recent trip to Vancouver I noticed that almost allthe apartment and condo buildings have rooftop gardens. What a great idea, fresh air, fresh produce and a place for reflection.

Bunting….........its called “Hydroponics”.......the roots float in fertilized water which is cycled to keep things from rotting. Perhaps not as tasty as lettuce grown in mother natures soil….....but it feeds the masses.

Probably rock wool or similar.
Beats the heck out of loading it up on a truck in Arizona or Mexico and dieseling it all the way up to Canada 8 months of the year.
Maybe we can use up some of the fossil fuel that some people are turning their noses up at right now.
It could conceivably cut our imports of fresh table vegetables in half.

Oooooooooooooooh. Bon, that sounds so good. I might have to come up with something workable like that as a “trellis” along the fence.

One could purchase hydroponics lettuce in the stores here but I haven’t noticed any of late. Perhaps the wrong season as fresh should be hitting the shelves.

Neat idea. I think I may have to try that one. There are some good links provided in the link above. Thanks.
