Topic tags/keywords: birds great crested flycatcher

A great gift for mother’s day: the Great Crested Flycatcher is back.
Last year they nested in a birdhouse that was on one of the trees that we had to cut down so I was unsure as to whether or not they would be back. And:

What AWESOME pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have the most beautiful birds in your yard. What a pleasure it must be to sit on your deck or under that wonderful pergola of yours and watch all the nature activity!!! :-)

beautiful bird. So nice to have a forest near you isnt it.

Yesterday I hung out the oriole feeder and hung up two oranges as I could hear them near me but couldnt see them. This morning on the way to the barn/shop was an oriole at the orange…....beautiful.

I envy you folks with your exotics but I had a steady stream of robins in my bird bath today and that made me feel pretty good.
Nice shots Eklectic! BTW.

The Nut hatches and Downey woodpeckers have found my peanutbutter/ sunflower seed treats and are excitedly pecking away at them. The geese were over head this morning so that’s a good thing.
My reds (squirrels)are back and being as bad as they can be with their constant churring and acting out as if they owned the entire backyard and all the visitors just humble servants.
I’m hand feeding one and that is pissing off the two sibblings a bit.

Soon they will all be in my power! Hahahahah!

Bob, I have to tell you that I really enjoy hearing about all your “pet” squirrels. It absolutely fascinates me, cuz here they are mean … but we have the grays and blacks. Keep the stories and pics of your friends coming!

And again, “E” ... love all your bird photos!!!!

Thanks you all!
Guess what? Some of you might have them close to your house and not know it!

Inhabits woodlands and small towns in North America east of the Rocky Mountains from the Gulf States to New Brunswick and Quebec, west to Alberta.

And Bob, even thought I have an oriole feeder, I have never seen one !! I will try thr orange trick. Thanks for the tip!

Well then, guess I will have to keep my eyes open. I do love to watch the birds here, but haven’t seen this one.

Awesome pics ‘E’. You are indeed fortunate to have nature so nearby. Wonderful clarity as well.

Bob, I haven’t seen any of my dear wee reds this year. Love them. However, still lots of blacks and greys.

Indeed I am lucky to be close to the forest. Actually from this window by the computer, it is really the wild forest!
And in this wild forest, I saw, from this window a FLYING TURKEY!!!!!
Naturally I ran outside and, low and behold I see it:

I am very lucky to have this picture, the first one because after she realized I was there, she was hiding

and it got harder to see her!

See how close to the house!

Terrific pic E

WE don’t have wild turkeys here

I have never seen on but would like to

I suppose years ago that is what settlers ate before the domesticated turkey came along

Now here I go again. I’ll have to search the web to see when and how did they domesticate the wild turkey, lol,

I am too curious of a creature
