Can I plant pear trees and peach trees in my zone. I am a 4b. And if so what types would be the best in this cooler climate.

Thanks for the Help

I think you might be a bit too cool for pears, Bro.

my catalogue doesn’t say which zones the fruit trees are safe in.

Well, I did a little digging. I know that Canadian zones are a bit different than US ones, but here’s some info from Arborday.org:

http://www.arborday.org/trees/treeGuide/TreeList.cfm?SearchText=pear
http://www.arborday.org/trees/treeGuide/TreeList.cfm?SearchText=peach

Looks like zone 5 is about the limit…but if you have good sheltered land that doesn’t free rock-hard, you might get these trees to grow.

We had pears in Stratford, which is definitely a 5a or LOWER which suggest that you should be okay.

Did you get one? Did it survive?

There are several peach and pear (euro and Asian) which are fine and rated to zone 4. On top of that, the bulk are rated to no less than zone 5. Just depends on what you want.

Look over this site for the cultivars which suit your needs. Then see if you can source them local.
