Topic tags/keywords: humor I thought this was appropriate given the recent conversations here regarding grammar and the exact meaning of words. <g> http://video.stumbleupon.com/#p=j3yq5kxtd4 -- I want to believe in a lot of things but, in the meantime I have to deal with the truth |

The video was humorous in its own right, and with the proper group, with the intent of teaching grammar, it can be used as a teaching tool. However … why stir it up here? Some of the members here have graduate or post grad studies under our belts, and a good understanding of syntax, but this has little to do with gardening, which is the main purpose of the site, and we don’t use it against other members or people that we do not know well. Folks stirring it up have caused other groups to fail with members chosing not to participate because of the negativity in the site, or completely withdraw from participation. The articulation and comprehension of fine lines of semantics should not be what the group is all about. I believe that the vast majority of the members here would attest to that concept, also. My two cents worth. -- jroot |

I’m sorry you feel that way John. I have read the posting rules but perhaps you have a differnt interpretation. Off-topic discussions should be posted in the Tea Time. Please remember to keep such postings appropriate for all our members to read/see. I’ll see what I can do to accommodate you in the future. I took the liberty of checking my postings and I feel that I have made a very reasonable effort to provide decent and well documented gardening information . Quite frankly, you blindsided me with this one! Bob -- I want to believe in a lot of things but, in the meantime I have to deal with the truth |

No problem. I don’t know who P@#$ed in my cornflakes this morning. After a wonderful July 4th holiday, and time off work, I feel much better now. Sorry about that. -- jroot |

C’mon gentlemen, can’t we all just get along? No one should be doing anything unnatural in anyone’s breakfast cereal. Each of us communicates differently based on our lives, education, etc. We should be gentle with each other. No lobbing tomatoes (Bob, that’s for you |

For what it’s worth now … that video was put together by a video student and does not speak to grammar at all. Please go to the website and check this if you are in doubt. My prefaced remark here alluded to being corrected by the “resident guru of all things garden” re the difference vs Pesticides and herbicides, fungicides, Insecticides, bactericides. It seemed unnecessary at the time as it does now. So now you have it. I neither corrected nor alluded to correction with respect to the forum members . I am guilty of pointing out that the guru sometimes has difficulties with the language but only by retaliation. Here is the jab that started it all:
”Pesticide = Insecticide, fungicide, herbicide …Knowledge dear man…knowledge Totally uncalled for and provocative as usual. Perhaps you have chosen to shoot the wrong horse.? -- I want to believe in a lot of things but, in the meantime I have to deal with the truth |

Bob, I am glad that I continue to amuse you, but your constant attempts to turn this forum against me has failed. There was no jab in the above statement regarding pesticides. I simply stated Ms D is not into pesticides, and that they are banned in Ontario, you retaliated with nonsense in stating Round-up is a herbicide in an attempt to correct me and I let you know that I was correct. How is this uncalled for? You on the other hand have hi-jacked more than one of my postings with completely irrelevant material. This thread goes to show that you simply enjoy trolling and you had better check your own grammar before correcting others. Now skipper like, it’s totally like understandable you know, that an old guy like yourself would like not understand a common term like trolling…like, like, like – you know <vbg> so please refer to a Google search and look it up. Oh and read ALL the rules: You have now admitted as stated above that this posting was intended for me – Trolling at it’s finest. -- Xploreorganics, 5b Canada, LFD 06-20 |

You have now admitted as stated above that this posting was intended for me – Trolling at it’s finest. Mrs. D is a big girl and can speak for herself. No need to have you speak for her. ( Troll) I can pretty much rest my case with you on the strength of your posting here. There are several people my age here at this forum so was your insult meant for them
for them as well? -- I want to believe in a lot of things but, in the meantime I have to deal with the truth |

Bob, You need to take a serious look at yourself. Let go of your anger old man. I respect respectable elders. Seems to MsD made a posting and you made a suggestion and so did I…Are you saying that nobody else can make any suggestions but you? ha. I contribute more of my personal garden knowledge, trial and stories rather than links to others. What I post about pesticides is out of genuine concern, others may not know that there is a ban in Ontario, they may also not understand that a pesticide ban includes herbicides as they are categorized “pesticides”. You on the other hand take attack mode to everything I have posted. Please review your postings and you will see that since the time I agreed with another member about your suggestion on posting pictures (thereby not agreeing 100% with your suggestion) you have been attacking me on this forum and through PM’s. You have insulted my volunteer work, tried to form your own insulting conclusions regarding my disability and have posted many attacks with no relevance to gardening. Please feel free to continue to PM me with your attacks rather than bother the good people of this site with your nonsense. I will continue to respond to any threads with my suggestions and pesticide knowledge for educational purposes only. If this continues to get out of hand I will back off so others can enjoy this forum but will leave my account open for anyone who would like to contact me about alternatives to synthetic pesticides or anything I can help them with with regards to gardening naturally. -- Xploreorganics, 5b Canada, LFD 06-20 |
