My husband belongs to the Lumberjocks website that GT was spun off of. The gentleman, Martin, who created Lumberjocks also created this site as well … Anyway, my husband told me about this site as soon as it was up and running … and I joined. -- "A perfect garden is just a garden to be in-perfection. let me tell you – we put a lot of time into coming up with the name…you think you find a good one and it is taken already… or you find a great name and then you look at it and it has a double meaning that isn’t so great. -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

How long did it take you to come up/decide on the name “GT”? Okay, this is very interesting … a little bit of GT history. -- "A perfect garden is just a garden to be in-perfection. Mornings to work on it and evenings to pause and look at it." Southeast Michigan, Zone 5a/5b |

o.k….so i’ve been dinking around on lumberjocks…seeing ads for gardentenders….having blown off a number of other homesteading sites i decided to try this out. to answer the original question i came here from lumberjocks. i’ve blown off other sites (mainly homesteading sites) because there’s always some [insert favorite insulting description here] that seems to tell me i’m an idiot and i don’t know what i’m talking about etc. etc. [my late uncle never swore….but he had a friend that did….so when he got mad, he’d just say “maybe i should just go down to the lodge and have my friend say a few choice words for me.”] so i’m here to try again….although my interest goes far beyond just gardening (homesteading including everything it takes to get along in this world without outside interference or dependency) at least it’s a start. my main interest here would be organic gardening for the market and will hopefully, being at the apparent front end of this thing, will see some interesting stuff evolve. i guess i should save all the other stuff, warnings, personal embelishments for my new profile. -- arborial reconfiguration specialist......Zone out....(USA 5) |

well that’s quite an introduction. And I can promise that I, for one, won’t be doing any “you don’t know what you’re talking about” talk because, although I grew up on a farm and have lived in the rural Ontario my entire life, I feel like a newbie to all this gardening stuff. Bring it on.. and share your wisdom!!! -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

I hope so too. Maybe I can inject alittle homesteading expansion kinda thing into the “sweating” forum. [I’m still trying to figure out why there are so many canucks on here (and lumberjocks.) I’m a Lumberjock from the quiet early days, where you could easily keep track of all the projects and comments – didn’t have blogs, videos or so many of the features we’ve been enjoying… I too am interested in homesteading, organics, being a locavore and such – and love the environment, the neighborliness of both sites here. I know it sounds better than GardenJocks, but I can’t help but think GardenTenders is a nice vegetarian chicken analog. -- southern NH. - smack dab in the middle of 5a and 5b - with lots of shade and full sun, in all the wrong places. |

Well I was just searching for some info on some gardening subject, don’t remember what it was and this was one choice so I checked out the info. Then I noticed Pharmer Phil’s name with a post and that peaked my interest more and here I am. Tho I am trying not to join too many sites cause sometimes I have trouble keeping up. I will be quite a while just covering everything here. Certain sites appeal to me more like Old Pharmer Phil’s nd this one is good too but more for the projects and pics of same. So far it is very interesting here. I hafta check out Lumberjock just to satisfy my curiousity.* -- gardening in extreme northern CA. zone 7 in the beautiful Siskiyou mountains |
