Has anybody grown strawberries in hanging pots??? Was wondering about types to do this summer.

Hey, Bro…these buggers are highly versatile. Just about any type will do just fine! Last season we got some roots/clumps from a friend who had several beds of ‘em, and I grew them in a hanging pot with some tasty results!

Thanks Bro., I was looking on a site that you recommended in another thread called Stark Bros. did not realize that htere was so many types. Another question though if something is rated for a 5 zone is it to much of a gamble to try to grow in a 4b zone???

when we grew strawberries on the farm, we always used Redcoats. YUMMY

Hmmm…well, keep in mind that strawberries have a relatively short growing cycle, so if you were to start growing them after the last chance for frost, you’ll probably be just fine. Also remember that hanging pots are more susceptible to weather changes as they don’t have the same ground insulation as your beds…
