I PULLED UP MY BRUSSELS AND DISCARDED THEM AS THEY WERE DECIMATED BY CABBAGE WHITE CATERPILLERS AND RESEMBLED LACY SKELETONS , MY FAULT FOR NOT NETTING THEM WHICH I WILL DO NEXT YEAR BUT I DIDNT DO IT LAST YEAR AND THEY WERE FINE, ITS A MYSTERY.
WE HAVE HAD A BAD SUMMER WITH LOTS OF RAIN AND VERY LITTLE SUN MY TOMATOS LOOKED GREAT UNTIL THE FRUIT FORMED AND THEN PRODUCED A VERY LOW YIELD.
I HAVE HAD A NEW PATIO AT THE HOUSE END OF THE GARDEN WHICH LOOKS GREAT AND THE SLABS FROM THE OLD PATIO ARE TO BE RE LAID ON MY LOWER PATIO OVERLOOKING THE VEGETABLE GARDEN AND THE VIEW BEYOND.
I WILL TAKE SOME PICTURES SOON .
LOTS OF WILD BLACKBERRIES IN THE HEDGEROWS WAITING TO BE PICKED AND A FRIEND OF MINE FROM THE CRICKET CLUB IS TO SHOW ME WHERE A COPSE OF HAZEL NUT TREES ARE .
SOLD THE MOPED AND NOW HAVE BOUGHT A 100CC. SCOOTER TO GET TO THE PUB ON . ON THE 18TH OF THIS MONTH I AM DOING A DJ. SPOT AT THE VILLAGE HALL (60S TO 80S MUSIC) AT GREAT HASELY, THAT SHOULD BE FUN.
RECENTLY I COMPERED A CHURCH FETE WHICH HAD FERRET RACING IT WAS A NICE SUNNY DAY AND I SAT THERE CRACKING JOKES ON THR P.A. SYSTEM AND PLAYING A VARIETY OF MUSIC THAT SEEMED TO BE APPRECIATED BY ALL, I WAS BETWEEN THE HOG ROAST AND THE TEA AND HOME MADE CAKES STALL IT WAS HEAVEN . SORRY TO HAVE BEEN AWAY SO LONG REGARDS MIKE

definitely missed you!

I had disappointments as well with my garden. But as you way, “next year”.

The DJ’ing sounds like a lot of fun.
I imagine that people need to wear diapers because they are laughing so hard at your jokes :)

What a mental image, MsDeb! Though probably an accurate one, with as many jokes as Mike tells.

And yes, Mike, we MISSED YOU !!!!!

Geees Mike

sorry to hear of your garden blues

I lost a lot of toms this year just as they were goin to ripen or after they ripened. a small black spot came on the sides of them then they rotted

Not all of them, I had lots for the freezer but hated to loose all those

BY the way. Bucket down, I hear you have an unusual tropical storm headed your way and Scottland

These kinds of storms hit us sometimes but not the ever the UK

Be safe

We have had the same problems Mike….. not much in the way of veg….....the best things in the garden have been the raspberries and they are still fruiting, we must have a mixture of autmn ones in there too. Our other problem has been finally moving house, so next year we can really enjoy planning our new garden.

our raspberries didn’t do well this year. But our fall crop (which was about 3 handfuls) were huge and delicious.

Oh, I wish I had raspberries here. They are one of my favourites. I tried the black raspberry, but it went wild and crazy and never fruited, so I composted it.
