I have english ivy plants that cling on my arbor, do I have to tear them all off, or will they stay the same for
next year?

these are the ones that literally glue themselves on houses etc.

Hi

No , do not remove them. I have several ivies on fences etc.

They will leaf out next year and the next as it keeps growing. They will contine to cling there as they have attached themselves to the arbour

Wonder why I need to sign in now stumped!!

someone over at LumberJocks finds that he has to keep signing in as well.
i only had to do it once and now it’s back to usual.

Ivy… you’d only want to remove it if you don’t want the vines to damage your brick… or that’s what I’ve heard anyway.

Quite right MsD.,
They can be quite destructive of bricks and even siding. So if you are going to allow them to grow, make sure that it will be a pleasure for you and not a headache!

Yah, you have to keep at them … pruning and pulling out … letting them grow only where you want them to. They can be very beautiful …

thank so much, I don’t have them on any bricks, was just trying to explain where they are used in case no one had heard of the ones I had described.

They are growing nicely up my arbor…........it will be good not to have to tear them down as I have in the past with others….....

thanks!
