Isn’t it a beautiful day … sun is brillant, temperatures are a little cooler, air is crisp. Noticed on my walk this morning that the trees around here are just beginning to change. Seems like during this season, Mother Earth switches emphasis from the ground and all her wonderous plants to the sky; now filling with beautiful shades of yellow, oranges and red’s. I marvel at God’s beauty …

So I am “sending” you all a couple of Mum’s to put in your yards or on your porches. ;-)

Gorgeous here, too. The birches are just starting to go golden, the maples are beginning to go red, and the poplars in my yard are almost nekkid!
Speaking of falling leaves, DH got me a lovely toy for my birthday; A 3-in-one leaf machine, it blows, it vacuums, it shreds and bags! It makes really nice mulch! Wasn’t he a sweetie?

It’s a picture perfect fall day here. Temperatures in the 70’s F or 20’s C, nice breeze and not a cloud in the sky. A few of the old trees are turning colour but for the most part it’s still green.

We had frost the other night and lucky me, I worked late and when I exited the barn I knew to make a fire in a barrell, put in the center of the garden and everything survived.

Cheers

worth the drive, plus going thru Bracebridge is also worth a thousand words….........and the gas prices have come down…....................

It certainly was a good day to celebrate fall. Thanks.

Today, (Saturday Sept 27th) is drizzling, and is really fall-like. The temperature trend seems to be going down. Hopefully, we’ll get a few more nice days.

Well the weekend here was suppost to be warm, with a cold front arriving on Sunday night/Monday … but the weathermen sure predicted that one wrong. The temperature seems to be dropping as the day goes on … no rain though; thankfully. But quite frankly, I am ready for some true Fall weather. My Mums are just beautiful and in full bloom now on the front porch.

Autumn has been beautiful so far, but today it clouded over and some rain is in the forecast. Time to get out those boots and umbrellas for a couple of days.
I’ve got some yellow and pink mums by the front door. I’ll have to snap a photo of them.

Red Poatatoes. I wa very disappointed in the results.
I planted 5 lbs of seed but I only got about 40lbs

This year was so wet . 30 days straight of poundin down rain so didn’ get them hilled enough.

This is the first year in about 25 I planted them, Not sure I will another year and if I do won’t be reds, will be white. A bit blurry

Virginia rceeper turning red. I had a better closer pic but can’t find it I gave away about 40 ft of it full of new roots last nite

My favourite potatoes are the whites. My son like the Yukon Gold, but I wouldn’t thank you for them.

The only mums I buy are perennial. Forget the showy annuals. I can’t afford to keep buying year after year.

I agree with you jroot. Besides, I like the way they start to flower after they have been established for a few years. The same for fall flowering asters.
Bunting, that virginia creeper is beautiful. My little plot of ground is not big enough to showcase such a prolific vine. But I certainly admire it.
Eklectic, the trees are magnificent, and I imagine put on quite a show in the fall.

GranT, thanks for the Happy Autumn wishes. Hope it’s a long balmy one!

I should have taken pic on the other side of this fence. The vine is larger and nicer.

OK

I have never seen prennials mums. Lots of asters but not mums

I thought they were just all hardy annuals.

yes me too can’t keep buying new ones every year

I would buy perennial mums tho

I must google them to see what they are like

love that vine!

Yukon Golds: my favourite because they keep so well. The first time we ever had them they were still “potatoes” in the spring, when the other potatoes were just wrinkles.

The perennial mums are the Hardy Mums, which do come back year after year, .... if one is lucky ….. and if one winters them adequately. I usually throw some old leaves around them, and add a few sticks to support any weight which might otherwise cause them to break. They tend to die if that happens. ...and then let the snow drift on top of them. .... and they come back.
