I have a lot of work to do before we head out. Last night’s storm pulled down a lot of my cannas, and gladiolas. A good number of my phlox are down as well, and I have to have the path cleared for the lady who has kindly volunteered to look after my garden. So it is mache time out there this afternoon. What a shame, as it was looking so nicely.

I visited with my sisters from the Stratford area yesterday, and one has just come back from a trip to England where she was singing in a choir which was a guest choir for a cathedral in Salisbury ( I think she said). She stopped by Eden Place garden in southern England, and took a photo of this as she knew I loved and collected brugmansia.

A beautify lady, but there can be repercussions from it, if one is not careful. I had classic brug poisoning last year, where I lost the sight in one eye for about 14 hours.

I would NEVER state that it can be used to induce visions or relaxation, as that could have disasterous results. However, that is what they have written, so I thought that I would share. As I say, ... interesting.

I have to go out now and start chopping. Work now … Talk later.

Sounds like quite a storm you had …

Very cool plaque or painting; how old is it? Do you know? And glad to hear your eye cleared up after your “brug poisioning”.

Brugmansia. ( Sometimes called Angel Trumpets ). Similar flower to Datura ( Sometimes called Devil’s Trumpets ), but completely different plant. There are several of us who have various kinds of brugmansia as they are a most remarkable plant. Most botanical gardens will have at least one.

This is my son with one of mine:

Another one of mine at the front of the house:

I love these plants, and their amazing fragrance. Some are nicer than others. I get rid of the ones that I don’t like the scent. But they are a LOT of work, and definitely have their own personalities. They are a tropical plant, and need to come indoors in our climate.
