At the price of declaring me an offensively politically incorrect person I dare to ask – do you still believe in the global warming ?

There are some experts who claim that the earths rotation around the sun is now at a place which puts the planet close to the sun, therefor the earth is heating up in a natural cycle. While this is true …...it’s still heating up.

What fool wouldnt believe in global warming? Both the north and south poles are breaking apart/melting faster then the most dire predictions and it wont be long before shipping can be done year round through the north west passage.

I think all the rain we are getting is due to the billions of trillions of gallons of water melting off the poles every day and that once they due melt….................we are all going to cook in our own fat

I plant trees to slow it down, drive as little as possible, eat from my own garden, get my own eggs and my own chicken.

For the life of me, I cannot convince those I live with that its “REAL”

Good comment GreenThumb

regardless of whether you think it is real or not (which can put people into heated debates) let’s look at what it means to be a responsible inhabitant of this planet.
  • we need clean air to breathe… so what do we do to ensure that happens? We have to do what we can to eliminate putting contaminants into the air
  • we need clean water to drink… so what do we do to ensure that happens? We have to do what we can to eliminate contaminants going into the ground and into the water

What are the contributing factors to contaminates? non-natural products and activities.
What do we need to do? Live more naturally; reduce buying/consumption; reuse products instead of tossing…

There isn’t a scientist on the planet that doesn’t believe in global warming. What is causing it is where the debate lies. Man’s influence or natural causes. Personally, and I’ve done a little research on the subject, I think it’s a little of both. The planet is heating up on it’s own for various reasons but, man’s actions are greatly exasperating the problem. You can find some possible solutions to this and other issues at SpaceAware.org .

I agree re: “little of both”.
We can’t do much about the natural flow of things but we can do lots about our role.

And I have read there are many scientist who say this i natural and has taken place before.

I have also read just recently the ice is forming just a fast as it is melting

so I am sitting on both sides of the fence and not totally convinced

But I am doing everything possible to slow it down just in case.

Planting trees?? I have 131 trees now on 4 acres My whole property is lined with 200-250 year old pines and elms , oaks and at least 50 hugh beautiful sugar maples about 25-30 years old not counting countless of shrubs

I do dailly composting which I have done for 25-30 years, reserve water and wonder why this last month with 22 days of pounding down pouring rain

I waste not a thing, not one thing and eat from my garden every year and perserve plus this year doing the 100km living, buying, eating from locals etc which is norm for me anyway but even more so this year.

I will not eat meat, pork chicken eggs bought in any store . I buy from our local farmers that do not use drugs and feed them chemicals

meat, chickens must be free grazzing, I have done this for at least 35 -40 years

I am not a rural living hippy but I do live arural but just beleive in eating healthy

This thread is like giving a pyro a BIC lighter….like giving an alcoholic a bottle of canadien whiskey for a birthday present….like giving me access to the internet…...o.k…..i’ll be nice…..sort of.

The earth will scorch itself and ice itself down, time and time again, whether we are here or not.

There are also too many people….NOW….and earth cannot sustain that population. Solution = reduce the excess population….which I’m guessing the earth is planning as we speak.

Nature has an uncanny ability to cleanse itself.

I agree. (and nicely put. You weren’t TOO blunt haha)

We will be getting our first shock when transportation costs will reduce the amount of food importing we will do.. We are building on all of our farm land so where will the food be grown? Hmmm too many people.. too little farmland.

I try to do my bit what I can but I do agree with Ms Deb.

Too many people, too little farmlands. That happened in TO example

Greed part of it. Tobacco was worth more than food at one time.

But God does have ways of thinning us all out either by storms, disease or just greed, we will kill each other one way of the other.

WE need thinned out so we can even breath the air or have enough to breath in , period.

WE need more trees to purifiy the air but where to plant them. is a ????

I try to plant a tree or shurb each time a friend dies in their honor but I am running out of room too.

Tobacco is almost history in SW Ontario now and Ginseng is one of “the” crops to plant. So we have miles and miles and miles of black tarp to look at and have tons and tons and tons of harsh chemicals thrown into the ground. Oh yes, healthy, “natural” ginseng.
We now have a ginseng field behind our house. I hate to think of how it will affect our well water, even with the filtering Mother Earth does. My brother says that it will be fine but he also shakes his head at the amount of chemicals “required” for this crop.

here’s a photo that I took several years ago. The tarps are rolled up in the picture. (They keep them covered during the warmer months). The tarps behind our house just got rolled up yesterday. If I find a field with the tarps still out and I have my camera, I’ll take picture for you.

(the non-glass of the frame sure didn’t stop the glare from showing in the photo. Sorry about the quality)

Quite a view you have there MsDeb. I had no idea that is how they grew Ginseng … wow black tarps … kind of creepy. Your picture is very beautiful but almost mysterious and I could see where at different times of the day/night it would look like a lake.

Why do they need all the chemicals to grow this??

well, it’s not natural for this area of the world and so they have to fake the environment (I am assuming)

For another point of view on global warming you might want to sit through this :

There seem to be omissions and exagerations on both sides of the science but it’s always better to know them both and form your own conclusions.

This one is an hour long on High speed so be aware.

Very interesting Bob

A science buff for many years I tend to beleive this although I do everything in my power to prevent it if Global warming is true but…

I watched the whole thing and can’t argue with it,after all the more claims the more government money pours

I beleive this has all happened before mor than once

But then this scientific documentarty proves it . I have read all this from many scienctists papers before

We all know that the Earth is due for a magnetic pole adjustment soon so much of this global warming talk is actually moot.
