(August 11, 2008) following the successful corn roast at Horsetail’s (SW Ontario), I think there is some interest in a second get-together. 1. Is there an interest? I, obviously, am volunteering to host this event. -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

Sure would love to.But it is a 5 hour drive for me. A long time on the road for a get together! -- Eklectic, Follow my Bliss, South East Ontario 5a |

well you are welcome to come on Friday or Saturday and stay til Monday morning. OK .. so we’re on for another get-together. Date: -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |
|

It all depends upon the date this fall. Are we talking September or October? I would be able to have some nice brugmansia cuttings in October. Alas, most of September is out of the question for me, though. However, I am only one. Go with what the majority wishes. -- jroot |

so September is out. October… 4-5? 11-12? 18-19? 25-26? -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |
|

I would suggest the 4th or 5th. After that, we are all busy here in Ontario getting things ready for Xmas. We will probably have had our first frost by then, if not our first snow. :( The 11, 12, 13 is Thanksgiving weekend. That weekend will be out for most of us also. The last weekend in September ( 27th – 28th) might be possible to make as well. It is still open in my calendar. -- jroot |

hey.. maybe that’s what has happened… they jumped in my truck on the way home and are deciding to stay! :) So far they are very friendly —I haven’t noticed any pranks yet so I’m sure they won’t mind if they have visitors -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

who’s still interested in this? .. or better yet, who has this on their calendar and plans to attend? I would like to move it to the Sunday as there is a woodshow on Saturday that we’d like to go to. -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

I’m back from Europe now. Saturday, the 5th sounds good to me. If it is still “a go”, please email me directions or an address so my GPS can find you. I have quite a few brugmansia cuttings potted up, as well as some other goodies. How many folks are able to make it? -- jroot |

it looks like it is just you and Iris. Do we still want to have it or do we postpone until spring? -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

It is your call, Debbie. If you want some brugmansia plants, then now is a good time. I won’t have room to store them for a long time, so them may end up in the compost heap. -- jroot |

Is anyone else tentatively coming on Sunday? that might help with the decision. But then, 3 people is a nice group.. Let’s just say “YES, it’s a go” and then if we get more people that will be a bonus. So: Sunday October 5. -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

I’ve sent directions to everyone (I hope). If you didn’t get the directions and you plan on attending please let me know. Thanks -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

ok. I shouldn’t “had a look around” (see here) Although I did see a few remaining flowers, what I mostly saw was a whole lot of weeds and un-cared-for flowerbeds and was reminded that on Sunday when I have company coming—gardening company—they are going to wonder why I’m part of this gardening community!! So be prepared: the flowerbeds are a mess and I won’t have time to clean them up before Sunday. Visitors beware!!! :) -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |

Point taken. Mine are no great shakes either. Since I returned from Europe, my mind has been preoccupied elsewhere other than the garden. ;) -- jroot |

Lookin’ forward to seeing you gals. I’m bringing my wife [ for protection :) ] Debbie, remind me to take a look at those fantastic bird houses your DH has built. I’m planning a big one now that involves the use of stained glass as well. I will be bringing some small rooted brugmansia cuttings, some russian flag iris, some peony poppy seeds, ... Hopefully, the frost does not kill everying by then. We are definitely expecting it this week and weekend. -- jroot |

smart move to bring the Mrs. :) I promise you that you won’t miss the bird houses :) I brought my house plants inside this afternoon. It is COLD outside .. and inside! I’m not sure what the weather will be like on Sunday but remember that we’ll be sitting outside. If it rains we can go into the gazebo. It’s still cold but it’s an experience ;) -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) |
