I had brought up that the leaves on my flox were covered in something white, I did spray them with baking soda and water as you had said to do, the white is still there a week later.

Do I need to re-spray them?

thank you!

You have mill dew on your PHLOX

You get it because there isn’t enough air flow between plants with so much rain this year but you will get this even if a hot dry summer if you have your plants too close together. Phlox is really bad for to it

It will kill the leaves but it won’t kill the plant but what ever you do don’t put the leaves in your compost as it will spread through your soil and ruin all your plants next year

take 1 tblsp of baking soda and disolve it in one litre of warm water, spay the whole plant and even under leaves and all the soil around it Don’t let any leaves fall on the ground, Pick them up if you do and put them in the garabage

do this 3-4 time a week til you get it all

This wil spread quicky by spores in the air to all your other plants

I never had mill dew thanks heavens

Add a bit of cinnamon powder to that spray for extra fungal protection.

trim off the bottom leaves with the mildew, leaving the good healthy ones on top. I had a similar problem here when I planted to thickly in my raised garden. It completely killed several cleome, because I didn’t catch it. Phlox are particularly plagued with mildew.

Bunting and Xploreorganics have given good advice.

My only pink Bee Balm has powdery mildew and many of the buds did not blossom. Its been three years of waiting for this lovely plant to produce but alas …... the wet weather won.

thanks everyone, your right Bunting, the leaves had turned brown and are dead today.

I will go out tomorrow morning and put them in the garbage, thanks so much, had no idea if the leaves were left there, it would spread!

all of my leaves are now like this, no good ones left jroot.

Mind you, I did have to spray all leaves, its just one plant as I just bought it, but all were covered, and yes, Bunting your right, we have had heavy heavy amounts of rain almost every 2 days, other times worse, some everyday, this explains alot with my other plants as well, some are not looking as healthy as previous years.

GTA broke another rain record for the month of July. Some plants are thriving others not. However, the lawns are looks wonderful with no watering restrictions.

we have had wayyyyyyyy to much rain, but in the GTA here, I am not really complaining, last summer we had no rain whatsoever, had to water plants 2X a day to keep up the intense head and watering the grass was a sheer waste of water!

I snipped off all of the leaves on my flox and put them in the garbage, thanks everyone for the great help!

So far I haven’t any mildew on anything. touch wood! I have all my beds mulched which I believe helps alot.
Even my roses are great! I’m in Scarborough. I also find that I make sure my plants have enough air circulation which helps.
