Thee hollyhocks are in full sun I am careful with watering and careful not to water too often, every 3-4th day I water them as tomatoes at the base of the plant, otherwise if you splash water on the leaves you will get a fungus called rust I don’t get rust. I also have well water

Love that pink! Maybe if we do have a seed exchange??? After your post on Foxgloves, where I said I wasn’t able to grow hollyhocks, I went outside in the rain to check a different spot and, low and behold, I have some growing!!! -- Eklectic, Follow my Bliss, South East Ontario 5a |

They are beautiful, and thanks for the tip on watering at the base! I water mine everyday in the hot hot sun, is this to much? We average temps of 27-30C. -- Toronto, Ontario |
|

our temps have been 30-41C and I find every 3-4 day ok but then I don’t have time to water every day except I make the effort for the veggies but watering 2 acres cant do it and work too You should not water when the sun is hot, it will just dry out in min plus it can burn your plants Best time to water is early morning or late at nite when the water has a chance to seep in before evaporating BTW do you make little wells around your roses and larger plants?? It helps catch and hold the water in for it to go right to the roots rather than drain off -- NS Zone 5B 200 KM East of Halifax cheers Bunting------Having a place to go – is a home. There is nothing you can do about the heaven’s rain but at least you can prolong the rust or keep it away altogether or at least help the situation Or even cover them if you are tall enough, lol,lol -- NS Zone 5B 200 KM East of Halifax cheers Bunting------Having a place to go – is a home. thanks Bunting! They don’t look like the hollyhocks I have here that are just beginning to open, however, I always have watered first thing or last a night and I do a heavy watering. -- Toronto, Ontario |
