well, these berries are small. Can you see the picture of the big green tomato looking thing? it’s really big (much bigger than these eggplanty colored things). I wonder if they can vary (?)

There are many varieties of nightshades…potatoes and tomatoes are also nightshades. Most do have poisionous parts. Try this one Solanum aculeastrum.

I think this is closer but seems like it’s not a hedge. I really appreciate your help. I’m just having a hard time locating information because I know so little of this stuff!! :)

No problem. Just look up nightshades for your area because it is for sure a nightshade plant.

hmm, I don’t think it is. I really need to get better pictures of these things. The “fruit” is about the size of a baseball….little larger. I’m searching for nightshades in this area but the flowers aren’t the same. The flower on this looks like a thistle. purply blue and when it opens, it flattens almost totally out. Then you get these fruits.

It’s the craziest thing so far. I’ve asked all kinds of folks and no one has ever seen one. Thank you to everyone helping me! Keep the suggestions coming! :)

Yes, yes, that’s it. This is exactly it!!! Thank you so much!! I just found this site and the pictures are exactly right. :) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1193/

Thank you so much. I’m excited now to know it’s not poisonous and they don’t need to be removed. I just went out and we have 6 of them now. Loads and loads of flowers!!

Thanks again for all the help!
