Thanks MsD…..made the mistake of leaving my morning glorys out the other night and it really put them in a shock.Hope they recover. At least I saved a bunch of seeds to start again. But these ones were doing so good. Will make sure I cover my newly planted lillies and foxglove.

Wow

Snow for Calgary today

It sure is cold here. I need to put a fire on

It feels like snow, it’s cold enough for it

What a switch. 18C yesterday and plus 3 today

Sure is chilly here today. I have had many plants out in my mini greenhouse for about 3 weeks but I put blankets over the whole thing each night. Although I took off the blankets this morning I didn’t unzip the sides.

Even this early in May I have seen veggie gardens completely wiped out due to frost. People get
over anxious, an easy thing to do, but best be a little late than a little early with those tender veggies and of course fleurs.

Its chilly here today as well.

  • Gosh gang, **I can’t believe the weather you guys are having for the first week of May. Down here it’s about 78 degrees a bit humid and a thundershower is called for this afternoon. I sure hope spring gets there soon for you guys.

Boy you ladies sure are lucky to be able to plant already. But at least the cold weather is giving me time to get all my gardens in shape to plant.Worked on the berm yesterday and put a lot of rocks in to stop the soil from running down the hill on me.Got eaten by black flies.Man they get itchy if you scratch them (lol).Just a few more rocks and she will be ready to go.

Bon, with all your hard work your area is going to look lovely. Rock handling isn’t the easiest either. Yes, those darn black flies …. horrible things along with horse flies and those no-seeums. Of course always those skitters.

Well Bon, sounds like you were indeed busy!!! It is good to have the time to get your berm and other beds all ready for planting. Everything looks so nice and clean before the planting actually starts. Bet you are a bit sore, but feel really good about all the hard work you accomplished!!! :-)

Today here is nice and sunny. Still a bit cool, in the 60’s … but pleasant none-the-less.

Oh yeh…..Muscles and joints are pretty stiff.But nothing I can’t handle.(lol)

children sure do change your life

I’ve been looking after 2 children of my neighbours 2 days a week after school til mom gets home from work

They are so busy I am pooped when they leave but I enjoy them

Sara is a real chatter box, age 6 and Kenny is almost 8

At least I don’t have to change their diapers, lol,lol

I opened my motuh too soon and told them I would make a little garden for them

Now they ask for it every day. when can I plant my sunflowers they ask. I wish I had not said anything so soon

children don’t have a sense of time or a how long a day is

It’s turned a bit cool here as well. I think it is more the wind than anything else, makes the feel of the air seem colder. Brought my pots and baskets into my sun room from the back patio. The front porch … moved hanging baskets and pots right up next to the house. They should be sheltered enough there from the wind cuz it is howling.

My Container Garden seems to be doing just fine though … I think it is close enough to the side of the house that it is staying warmer and a bit protected from the wind.

Hoping for a warm up with our long weekend coming up …

FINALLY!!

May 31, 2008 – we’re finally getting a good rain.
Over the past month or two all of the forecast rain went around us and we just got a wee bit of drizzle. We had a great rain last night and it’s been raining all afternoon so far. —downside is the hail that received for some time. I hope my tomatoes were dodging the pellets!

We too got a good soaking rain last night. Sounds like we have gotten more rain than you MsDeb over the last months; but it was still needed.

Today has been kind of weird … warm, sunny, windy, temp dropped a bit, then an odd rain storm blew in out of nowhere, stayed windy and got warm and sunny again.

Not a good week ahead for sunshine but soon we’ll be bothered with the humidity and heat …. hopefully. Planting morning glories today but it does look as though we could be in for rain …. cool, dull and breezy.
