Well my 1987 model troy bilt pony finally threw a rod last week and it is not worth fixing again. It was given to me about 6 years ago and the motor was in a basket. I need to get a new or newer tiller. the small engine shop on the corner from me told me to avoid any made for walmart. and the new troy bilts are junk. I know most lawn equipment these days is made by MTD but they did say the cub cadet and craftsman were ok tillers. SO what does everyone reccommend. I am leaning towards the cub. And it has to be rear tine.

I recommend that you send me your old tiller.. I love playing with engines.. :)

Cub’s are good, so you should be fine with it. I’m so-so with the Craftsman stuff anymore. Granted I’ve got an old craftsman riding mower, but if I could afford it I’s get something stronger with a PTO. Then I’d just run a tiller like that.

we have 2 Honda tillers.. and older one (the big boy) and Rick says it is a beast… and we have a little mini which is a treasure!
Other than that, I have no wisdom to share

My Honda….............maybe the first one ever made and we bought it used over 12 years ago….......it owes me nothing. It is a Sherman tank in wieght, a cord that only paul bunyan could pull and puts out more CO2 then China….................died last fall.

i’m going to buy another Honda

Well I found an approx. 2 year old craftsman 17” counter rotating tine with a 6.5 briggs on it on craigslist lastnight for $450. the paint isn’t even worn off the tines yet and the little tag is still around the gas tank filler. It even came with a fresh tank of gas I am going to change the oil in it and the mowers this weekend and till up more garden.
