Don’t plant anything that you want to bloom this summer just yet!

All my plants I started under the grow lights are popping up and coming along nicely.I am never fooled by the warm weather this time of year. It’s still the long week-end for my flowers. That is if it doesn’t snow that week end.(lol)

Well, there might be a cold front coming, but you would never know it!
It is, on the deck, in the shade, already the same temperature that it was at yesterday at 4pm. So…

It is time to open the “concrete shop” which is in the shade and is the only spot outside where there is a breeze!

it was 21 today, finally

Cold and wet the past 3 days

I finally got a bit of the veggie patch dug up and worms
oh wow, I;ve got worms

big ones, wranglers, lol

Last year was the fiirst for a garden in this litle area and this year loaded with worms

The soil is rich and good but I need to add some compost yet

I put 5-6 inches of straw between the rows then I never have to weed all season

Then I leave it there til Spring. it breaks down over winter and nothing like straw to make your soil rich and loose

Rememeber do not use hay. Hay has seeds straw doesn’t

I used to do as Bunting suggests when I have a large veggie garden. It worked well. When you think about it, that is how the name strawberries came from. :)

was 21C here today….............ahhhhhhhhhhh so nice and sunny and cool!

higher temps and humiidty coming in soon though.

love these cool nights, all windows open up at night and during the day, no a/c

yeah!

hate when everything is closed up…......reminds me of winter, feeling really enclosed.

oh, and one more thing, its now dark by 8:15 here now…..............humbug!

For sure it is getting dark earlier. We had a garden show last night in Rockwood. My place was the first one at 7:30, but by the time we hit the 3rd place, it was too dark to see, and the mosquitoes were horrid.

hmmm
makes me wonder about our get-together in October.
Most plants will be gone.
Dark will arrive early.

The first week of October is usually good. When we get into the 2nd or 3rd, we are in trouble in our neck of the woods.

Maybe some of the plants will be gone, but we will have been able to collect some seeds, make some cuttings, dig up some tubers, ... try out our new fall wardrobe LOL
