i was down to the local nursery a couple of weeks ago and noticed an elephant
ears shrub. $199.99 was the asking price! It certainly does pay to grown ones own.

It was large ….8 feet perhaps. I think it was meant for an entrance way … interior. Not a perennial …. that’s indeed costly for a big few leaves …. lol.

I’ve seen brugmansia selling for $129.99 in a store, and I have numerous ones the same size and they did not cost me that. Most of mine are from cuttings. The only brug I bought cost me $29.

Elephant ears can be purchased in the spring for about $12, but one can go to the local chinese grocery store and purchase Taro, for a lot less. Tara doesn’t grow quite as large as the elephant ears, but close to it, and it’s edible too. My son makes interesting Taro chips from it. Before eating it tough, one should research cooking it, as it has to be done properly to avoid problems with the crystals.

I saw taro (root) in the everyday grocery store last week and many were sprouting. Ii’s interesting to know
all these little gems Jroot. We have the united nations in some areas here and many so-called different food stuffs not usually found in other areas.
