Topic tags/keywords: seeds exchange next swap annuals vegetables perennials

Well, let’s get ready for our next swap by listing what we have and what we want!
Can be annuals, perennials, vegetables .
We have to make it very clear as to whether it is what we have or what we want!

Here we go!
Let’s have fun!

Hi D,
No you did not miss a summer swap.

We jumped from:
“GONE FROM THE SEED RACKS”
Let’s try to make a “want list” so everybody gets an idea of which seeds are important to the group.

I suppose annuals are the best place to start.

Any other ideas?

Bob

And went “wild” with Bob’s idea!!!:-)

greenthumb,
I think the same as the last seed exchange! It is just that we are planning ahead of time.
But, if any of you who have more experience in the process have different ideas…

As well, greenthumb, reading your post on “Gone from the seed racks” gave me the idea that we could post pictures of the plants that we have, when we have pictures, as well as the name as I believe a lot of us are visuals.

and if we are really interested in our Earth I guess we need to be cautious about introducing plants from other areas of the world, so keeping it within one’s country is a good idea.

some one, some where, brought a plant here from Europe, its a vine called dog?..........the seeds float away and in the summer when you drive down the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto you see a green forestand river to the west. It was a forest and now its all that vine. The vine grows up the overpass walls, covers the trees it killed and without herbacide (which is illegal in Toronto)............it is impossible to stop. Kinda like purple leaf strife?............another bad one

That said and not being an expert….....I doubt seeds carry desease?

GT, are you thinking of the wild cucumber vine ? very invasive and prolific.

How about dividing the list into :

1. Annuals Flowers – Veggies

2. Perennials Flowers – Veggies

Then set up a “sticky” for each zone that offers or wants something.

I’m pretty sure we will only need about 6-8 zones for this.

It would save each member from ploughing thru information they can’t use.

thoughts?

Like that suggestion Bob … probably the more specific we can make the listings, the better.

greenthumb…yep, purple loosestrife=bad news. Beautiful, but killing the wetlands with its non-competitive method of crowding out everything else.

it would be nice to keep the request lists simple and without discussions…. maybe Buli & Martin can come up with something.
We can have discussions about the idea here (or elsewhere) but the lists are simply that: lists.

Kudzu vine….covers everything in its path. PRetty invasive stuff here in US too. I can help with a little 5B invasive preview before we exchange. Native and invasives are my thing.

I have my list in my profile. If you do a search for a seed you will get my profile. Perhaps for now until our ‘puter wizzes come up with something we could just add our list to our profile page. Click on my sunflower to see mine.

Xplor; I would be interested in trading Siberian Pea Tree and Astilboides Tabularis for Dicentra Exima and Hollyhock mix.
