Bon, I was just spellbond. I thought the organizers did a wonderful job, including so many unique features belonging to all the different people who make up our country. I watched almost all day, the end of the Torch Relay, right to the end of the Ceremonies last night. I especially was impressed when they carried in the Olympics flag. Carried by so many famous Canadians. I was so proud! I’m sure many people in other countries recognized those faces and thought, ‘I didn’t know that person was Canadian’. Other countries know so little about us. We just don’t toot our own horn enough. LOL The whole day, we saw so many people who have contributed so much to other people. The crowd that lined the streets in Vancouver was incredible. -- 'To plant a Garden is to believe in Tomorrow' |

That song by K.D. Lang almost brought tears to my eyes. (lol) And I agree with you Iris the people that lined the streets in that rain was amazing. And the roar when team Canada entered the stadium. Wow. -- Bon,Hastings,Ont.....zone 5a....Always room for one more |

That crowd in the streets last night was just a drop in the bucket (no pun intended). LOL The torch relay went on all day yesterday, starting bf daylight, and the crowds were there. Tears came to my eyes many times throughout the day, including seeing Barbara Ann Scott as one of the flag bearers. -- 'To plant a Garden is to believe in Tomorrow' |

I was disappointed though that Cindy Klassen wasn’t included in the final ceremony. Our top medalist who has a 25 cent coin minted in her honour and not even included in the torch lighting at the stadium.I was hoping that they would pick her for the final torch lighting but Wayne was my second choice. -- Bon,Hastings,Ont.....zone 5a....Always room for one more |

I missed the ceremonies because we don’t have a TV, but some of the photos I saw on the internet news were spectacular. I am glad the opening went so well. Enjoy the rest of the games and good luck to all the athletes! -- Robin, Massachusetts - "Live simply so others can simply live." M. Gandhi |

Yes interesting stats Debbie.Even though they have less people to choose from they were still impressive to watch and so wonderful to see small countries competing like this. It’s not just about winning;it’s about being there and sharing in this wonderful experience of unity. -- Bon,Hastings,Ont.....zone 5a....Always room for one more |

and what about the whales? that was bind blowing….so colourful the native costumes…kd lang has such a great voice….i was a bit upset about the pop embellishment of O Canada by that young singer…and how about the pipes on the soprano?? I would watch it again but this time I would take the time to go to the bathroom, I nearly peed my pants not wanting to miss anything :))))) -- south shore montreal, zone 5a, whish it was 9 |

and I forget to mention Terry Fox’s mother, she is so nice….Brian and Terry saw on the trans-canada in Alberta-Sask border, his camper and 2 police cars, we honked at him, so long ago…..sports figure and artists come and go but Terry Fox rallied the whole country coast to coast with no exceptions…what a man. -- south shore montreal, zone 5a, whish it was 9 |

I also watched it and was amazed! Too bad about the little glitch at the end. But an awesome show for sure. My favorite part was the dolphins, the ice breaking apart, and the whole snowboarding scene where he was coming down the mountain, and then he jumped into the arena!!! -- Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.. shine on you crazy diamond |

just knowing that Alex wanted to have his brother there with him is enough for me! What a role-model for us all :) and I can understand the “if we allow it once” mentality; yah it would get out of hand and there would be problem after problem from it… people can be ridiculous at times -- - Debbie, SW Ontario Canada (USDA Hardiness Zone: 5a) http://www.execulink.com/~yohan |

Yahooo two gold meldals now.Boy there sure has been alot of falls in the figure skating this time.Doesn’t that ice look terrible. It just disgusts me that they couldn’t provide better ice and ice cleaning for these events. You can actually see the soft spots in the ice. -- Bon,Hastings,Ont.....zone 5a....Always room for one more |
