Topic tags/keywords: mushrooms fungi chanterelles

Chanterelle mushrooms grow wild here and picking spots are treasured secretes. We actually own a fantastic mushroom spot although some may sneak in to capture a few. They sell for quite a bit of money. Personally, I’m not fond of the woodsy, fruity flavor and the light apricot scent. Hopefully some day I will find a use for them in my own kitchen but for now I trade them at a local market store for other goods I need.

Here is a part of our harvest the past fall:

Anyone have good ideas for using chanterelle mushrooms?

You can make them “na kyslo”(don’t know how say that in English) or I like also chanterelle mushroom soup.

I’m not very good at fungi id either, my European friends pick a lot of different wild mushrooms. It is difficult to get chanterelles wrong as they have a distinct apricot scent and are trumpet shaped. I am told that there are no poisonous lookalikes.
