Topic tags/keywords: question lawn leaf removal

Hi all,
I came over from ‘LumberJocks’.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but does anyone have some ideas on how to build a leaf sweeper or leaf vacuum?
Ron

These are the things that constantly go through my mind. I usually look at something and figure out how to make it myself.

Unfortunately, this is one of those things that is difficult to make for less than the cost to buy.

The quick answer is a lawnmower with a bagger. That’s hard to get to woodsy areas though. A lawner sweeper will run about $200. The general materials are not expensive but it’s the gear box/drive mechanism that is complicated and runs up the tab.

Using your time is like printing money. If you don’t have the money, but, have the time, then you can make alot of stuff. But, there’s a point of diminishing return. I think this is one of them.

Until I got a sweeper I just drove around and mowed stuff (or leaf blower) into a central pile then gathered it by hand.

Maybe rigging a rake type affair would suffice. At least you wouldn’t have to do that by hand. A couple of wheels and some store-bought tines [might be less than a store bought rake.]

[not so much an answer, but, and opinion.]
