We have set forth some goals for our new garden. I am using a modified version of the SFG and doing my garden in 2ft sections instead of 1. I am going to grow cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers in containers. My squash, okra, beans, carrots, corn, and onions will be grown in 2ft sections. The SFG hasn’t been started yet, but the plans are already under way. I should be able to start on it by next weekend. I am going to use a soil mixture of 1/3 composted manure, 1/3 professional potting soil, 1/3 peat moss and one handful of miracle gro perlite per two foot section. I am even adding one handful of a 6-10-10 fertilizer to each 4 foot section. I am using this same soil mixture for the container garden as well. I am going to setup the standard 4 foot sections but I am going to plant everything in 2 foot blocks. The container garden as I said earlier contains the same soil mixture as the SFG. For the tomatoes I used five gallon buckets filled with soil four inches from the top. The two tomato varieties that I have planted is Tree Tomato and Sunmaster. I have San Marzano and Roma VF started on the inside already. I ordered some other tomato plants last week to plant. My goal is 30 tomato plants total. I will keep everyone posted on these projects.
