Here is my entry for the bird house contest ON LUMBER JOKS
I was hoping for a novice category but o well here we are ,
With a little help from my grand kids on this design and build as we go I think it turned out OK.
We didn’t want to build a standard bird house but something with a bit of humor and not too fancy or complicated .
The idea is my own and the design went through a strict approval process of my wife and grand kids which also did some of the sanding and helped with the gluing etc. my I say in 15 minute sessions.
In the end I felt a little like Noah must have felt building the ark .LOL
Thank you all and I hope everybody is having fun with this contest and good luck !

I like it. I love the creative gene that goes for something unusual, but functional at the same time. Well done.

what a fancy birdhouse! For which birds did you build it?

Very cool! My DD would really like this one. She is getting her pilot’s licence and she is infatuated with all things airplane. :) What a good job you and your GKs did on this project. Love it.

Really striking – I particularly like the roof! How did you groove the wood so perfectly like that??

Hi everyone
I am glad you like the bird house and see the fun part and appreciate your comments very much !
It was a fun build for everyone involved and I would do it again and recommend this type of project to anyone.
Just let your imagination loose and go with a idea and develop it as things go without a complete plan that is how I approach my garden also , always another idea and I love it.
Mark the roof shingle design is done on the table saw with the blade just slightly raised and the board run through in both directions to create the rectangles but a router would also work for this.
Thank you all KIEFER
