Update:052011
A small root has started to sprout from one of the seeds in soil!!!

Update: 051911
Still no change….i did start a few seeds in soil as well…just a mixed lot of seeds i bought off ebay. Both are still doing the same thing.

Update: 051311
Seeds are still floating along in water…...looks the same :)

Update: 051011

I let these seeds dry out for a few days…..and today placed them in some warm water. I am hoping they will sprout…i’ll get pics up later!

If i get any good seed pods this year from my Hippeastrums..i am going to attempt to grow them from seed and in about 4 years…will see a wonderful bloom!!

Here is a photo of a pod on H. Lemon Lime….not sure if this will be a good pod….when i bought this bulb this year….it already had a seed pod forming…but the stalk was bent. We planted the bulb and have left it alone hoping the seeds will be good…..it has been over a week now and the pod is still green…waiting for it to get a yellow/brown look before we collect it….....keep your fingers crossed 4 me!! Update: 050411

This seed pod aborted while it was still very green. I peeled the pod open and found several seed that look like they might still be viable. There are a few little brown seeds and a few of them do have a small bump in the center….I am getting very excited…there is still hope!!

Update: 050611

The seeds have dried and im trying to decide now if i want to use the floatation method or if i want to sow the seeds in soil!

Sandra :)
