March 2, 2008
One of my flowerbeds is referred to as “the frog pond”. When I first created it (April 2006), it was the home of three garden statues – frogs playing musical instruments. I planted blue pansies in the flowerbed to represent the water in their pond.
The pansies bloomed from April (when we planted them) until … well, they bloomed throughout the following winter. The summer of 2006 was extremely hot and dry but the little cold-loving flowers didn’t mind one bit. A few flowered the next year (2007) and were intermixed with yellows. (I didn’t plant new ones.. they just became a mixtures of blues and yellows).
This year I will have to re-do the flowerbed and I plan to get more of the same plants. As you can see, they have been an inspiration for some of my photography :)

I like the idea of planting the blue pansies for water … isn’t it wonderful how they “mixed” on their own. Love pics 2 and 3!!!!

thanks E! :)
the frog pond looks a little different now… after the battle with the bind weed… I had to remove all of my pansies and redo the flowerbed.
I’ll post pictures when I get a moment

Blue flowers are a garden treasure. They are tough to find an getting a reasonable showing over the summer has always been a challenge for me.
I like your froggy band very much.
I did a bit of art sheet metal a few years ago so they have a soft spot for me.

I knew that frogs sang at night, particularly the bull frogs. I didn’t know that they played instruments. LOL

Wasn’t there a cartoon about a singing frog when my son was young? Bugs Bunny vintage. Now I am really dating myself.

yup.. only sang for the poor guy who “owned” him…... anyone else around and he’d only say “ribbet”.
