not much of a project, but an idea worth mentioning. I have several small potted plants all wanting shade and protection, but I did not want a clunky wooden shelf. For the longest time I was wondering what exactly I wanted.
Walking the dogs one morning on garbage pick up day, I noticed a CD rack by one of the trash cans and the ‘light came on’ :D
It is the perfect size for small pots

Fantastic recycling going on. It looks like you hung that one on the wall. Well done. I, too, am always on the look out for places to put pots.

yes, DH drilled 4 screws into the wall top and bottom, so it hangs secure

Great job reuse of something, like the trash to treasure books. I love being able to reuse items, maybe thats whuy I never want to throw anything away?

I love creative thinking!!
The “off the floor” was an added surprise.

and the best part, it was free ;-)
Can you imagine how I am driving through our neighborhood? with eyes glued to the side of the road hoping to find another treasure like this….

when Rick and I go for a drive, I’m always watching the side of the road.
One year, I was looking for old windows. I said, “oh there is a pile of windows!”. Rick: “Yup” and kept driving … it was a long drive .. a long, long drive. I saw lots of windows discarded at the side of the road.
But with my sister-in-law, I found a pile tossed in the ditch and we stopped to get them. They are now the windows in my cabin. :)

I just received a notice that someone has 2 wrought-iron cd racks available through Freecycle. Oh what a treasure. But, the town is about an hour away and it’s winter. Not a fun drive for a couple free treasures.
Thought of you immediately though!

they wanted them gone this weekend … so I’ll let it pass .. but with much regrets. I am picturing them in the gardens, holding sculptures, vines winding their way through the irons, “hen & chicks” adorning the shelves…......... sigh

well, I sent her an email and said that if they weren’t gone this weekend, that I was driving through her town on Thursday.
She checked out my website for some reason – and guess what. I do believe I will be getting the stands (unless someone messages her this evening for a last minute pickup)

I picked up my CD racks today (a freecycle treasure).
They aren’t going to make it out into my garden as obelisks. They are now sitting beside my chair, holding my glasses, the phone, pens, etc.

The two of them, together, are about the same size as yours. Thanks for the inspiration!

great, glad you got them :D
I tried to connect with freecycle, but it is a yahoo group here, and somehow it does not let me sign in with my yahoo account. so I gave up :o

that’s too bad re: freecycle.
I’ve gotten a few good treasures.
