We have been thinking of ways to dress up the big rock water well in our front yard. We tried flowers, flower boxes, all kinds of things. I found this old wine press at a second hand store. Since we live in Sonoma County, I felt it was a good fit. It covers up the big electric box for the pump and looks very natural.

Looks wonderful. Just imagine the wine in that well. LOL

The last time I used a press like that, my buddy and I were pressing grapes on my deck outdoors and piping the juice into the barrels in the wine cellar below for the primary fermentation. One of the neighbourhood dogs came around and was quite attracted by the whole process. Apparently, it had been left outdoors tied to a rope while the owner went on a 3 or 4 day trip, and it was STARVING, and managed to get free. It kept trying to eat the grapes that spit out from the press. I took it in and fed it, and looked after it until they got back. The picture of the press reminded my of that wonderful dog that took so much neglect from its owners. It made me sad to think that anyone would do that. It sure LOVED those grapes though. :)

That is a great idea to use a wine press to cover the well. I like it!
