I did my winter sowing today.
I began by partially cutting around the top of 21 water jugs so that the tops are “hinged” by one side.
I shoveled the snow off the “mound” of topsoil in the backyard and DH picked the icy top off last night to reveal some nice soil. This hole is actually the top of quite a large mound of soil…That’s how high the snow is in our garden!
I 1/3 filled each water Jug with soil and chose 21 seed varieties from my “cold” section of my seed collection. I have all my seeds sorted by stratification method and then in alphabetical order..LOL…I know – I’m anal :D
I then made 21 labels and put them in baggies for waterproofing and made 21 seed tapes.
It was teaming down Icy rain today so needless to say I got quite mucky…But it was fun to garden in the winter…Now Laundry…Not so fun.
I got everything cleaned up, chickies fed, dog fed, walked and had time to put on a nice valentine supper and dessert…I think I even caught a little nap in between.

Great Job!!!I haven’t seen snow like that in years.A couple of cold frames might come in handy next year to help in a early start.

We have a small cold frame to start thr tomatoes, cucumbers & peppers in the square foot garden but I fear our “early start still won’t be very early with such a late frost date but hopefully the cold frames will help the plants adjust to going outside…something I have never had much luck with…especially peppers & tomatoes.

LOL…No boots are not attached. I have a way of jumping out of the boots and pants without getting myself too muddy.
Those are the best suits ever. Wetskins Ultralite.
