I have been thrilled with my Dublin Bay Climber, I just wish they smelled like the Don Juans. I planted two more to climb up my front porch. The orange ‘Gingersnap’ is a new floribunda for me to try this year, but I am very happy so far, great contrast to my purple leaved sand cherry and False Indigos.

Oh! Very, very pretty. Is the first one a climbing hydrangea?

What is the name of the first flower that you show? Tell me more about it! How did you get involved in gardening at a greenhouse level?

The first flower is Viburnum, I believe ‘Oonandaga’ (may have to check the spelling on that), a May bloomer. Not a sweet scent like the Korean spice, but with a nice red tint to the flower and the foliage. It does look like the lacecap Hydrangea though, huh. I do refer to this kind of Viburnum as a lace cap, when compared to the snowball.
As far as my nursery work, I guess you can say it is in my blood. I grew up visiting my Grandparents strawberry farm in southeast Mass., and my other set of Grandparents ran a farm supply business, which is still in the family today. I worked for my family running the small greenhouse/nursery side of the business up until two years ago. Bought a house a bit too far to comfortably travel to the biz, so found a beautiful nursery to wile away my summer hours. In the off season I attend nursing school.

Thank you for identifying that beautiful flower. You sound like one very busy lady; but also like you love what you are doing. I look forward to seeing more of your gardens, when you have the time to post more photos.

I was wondering about that first plant also. I don’t recall seeing that viburnum before. It surely is a beauty.
