I have been taking pictures since the beginning of June and now have more than 100 of the gardens. Of course I know that I can’t post all those pics at once. Those folks on dial-up would not be able to see them anyway. So-o I decided to put them into catagories and number them.
Here goes on the first catagory for the front of the house.
#1 picture in the zoom pictues is the front of the house from the laneway.
#2 the west side of the housw next to the lanway.
#3 looking off the deck to the east garden, ninebark, red-twig dogwood and rose of sharon with various flowers.
#4 looking back at the front deck from the east.
This following picture is looking back towards the house through the fence.
This is the harlequin honeysuckle that is on the west end of the front deck, it doesn’t get thick but it does have pretty flowers and a wonderful scent.

Iris How simply lovely. I now have a new apprection of the Iris flower as well. I ordered 6 new ones yesterday from Vesseys. MY only one did not have the zap but I see that there are plenty others that do have that zap. Love yours! I envy you your amount of sun. I have too many trees.

Until last year my backyard was mostly shade but my neighbour finally cut down a huge ash that was beginning to die. When I show you pics of the backyard, you will see that it has shade-loving plants. I have more sun there now but still lots of shade so the plants are thriving.

Looking great, Iris.. So nice and full. Fine looking Weigela.. When does it bloom? Ours is still tiny and shows no sign of blooming.. Maybe in a few years..

beautiful honeysuckle, variegated too….and beverly sills (iris) looks so elegant, I loved Beverly Sills and was saddened by her death in 07. She was an american icon, great voice and fantastic personnality.

It looks so well managed and natural at the same time. Beautiful. Inspires me to get more irises. How long do they last in bloom in your area (zone)?

Scott, are you looking at the red-twigged dogwood. I have a weigalia but it is not planted yet, can’t decide where to put it! Bushes should be planted early in the garden, bf perennials, once the other flowers are established it’s hard to find room without moving stuff. :-)
Mario, thanks for the comment about Beverly Sills, I thought she was a singer but I don’t remember her. The harlequin honeysuckle is very pretty although in my garden it doesn’t fill out like other honeysuckles have. The leaves are attractive even after the flowers are done.
Dini, I guess over the years I have put in a fair amount of work on the gardens, but now they are so crowded I only edge them once a summer, and pull out what I don’t want. Very few weeds grow….well if they do I can’t see them bc it’s so crowded. :-) I don’t use mulch bc everything is so crowded and it would hinder self-seeding flowers. I do use soaker hose in most of the gardens and in the early spring you can see it, but it soon disappears under the foliage. Because almost everything is perennial, the gardens don’t require much watering, only in a prolonged drought.
BTW, Heritage Lace is one of my favorites too. (Just tell the rest of the iris. I don’t want to hurt their feelings. 8^) )
Bon, those pink iris are so beautiful, they would look lovely wherever you plant them.
mtkate, bc I have so many different kinds of iris, they start blooming when the snow is gone, ie small bulb iris, and I have something in bloom until the end of June. Some taller bulb iris, dutch iris, will bloom later in the summer. They are the kind that you plant the bulb in the spring. They will winter over, but eventually they disappear.
Thanks for visiting my gardens, I enjoyed showing them off to you. I love the kind remarks and questions. I will try to start my backyard pics soon. It takes time, and I spend so much of my time outside enjoying as much of the fine weather as I can. Hope you all do too.

Beautiful gardens!
Mario, are you sure you wish you were in Zone 9? Thursday the temperature was 98 (37 C) degrees and the heat index was 110. When you went outside the humidity and heat combination was miserable, add that to a drought and your garden just shrivels up.

Thank you all for your very nice comments.
Yes, GranT, I do love spring and summer and having the gardens in full bloom. Everything, not just the iris gives me such pleasure and a serene sense of peace. I love having people who appreciate the beauty stop and look and chat. It’s my small way of sharing some peace and goodwill in my little corner of the world. 8^)

I agree—impeccable and polished!
I should warn people about my gardens. By August there should be lots of weeds lol
