I recently built a birdhouse for the spring and had my daughter add her talents as a leather sculptor to construct a face and eyes to the front with the hole as the mouth to give it a bit of character. Hopefully it won’t freak out the birds!!

how cool is that. I like it.

i can imagine it used near a garden, where warm temperatures embrace the soul, and the song of the summer bird, sings again

My daughter makes the eyes herself. Just glass, I guess.

if there is one thing that warms my soul, is the inherent right, to borrow a plant that enriches a life, and when I see wood, I see life with all its smiles, and the wonderment that it brings with it : )

Cool! Very creative. Nice for us to look at. I wonder if the birds will be fearful though because of the “eye”. Will it think it is entering a bird of prey’s mouth? Only time will tell. I have created several bird houses here, but only a few of them have had residents. Most become ornaments. Ah well, they were fun in the making.

You are right jroot,
The birds are generally scared of the birdhouse, too much going on. It took 3 years before birds finally used the one in the image I attached! I don’t really build them for the birds, I just like to look at them! https://s3.amazonaws.com/gardentenders.com/n42nty5.jpg!
