You have certainly put your talents to work here. 100 year old wood – now that is what one would call recycling.

Man, I wish my husband could find “affordable, okay even reasonable” 100 year old wood around here. Such a “honey do” list I would have for him. Hmmmmmm, maybe that is why he not really looking—LOL!!!!!

Seriously though, I have told ya before … such a wonderful use of this reclaimed wood. You have created such beautiful pieces with these pieces of history you find.

Thanks again everyone for all your very generous comments. If it wasn,t for all this free reclaimed wood i wouldn,t be building much of anything . The price of wood now a days is enough to turn anyone off.

John, I wanted to ask you what size of hole you drilled for the entry to the “apartment”. I am aware that different birds need different sizes, but I am curious as to the size you drill, and what type of bird is lucky enough to inhabit your apartment complex?

Thanks, John. My wife and I were sitting down to lunch today, and we saw 2 blue birds exploring our bird houses. I gather their entrance should be about the same size. Good to know.

I am hoping to build a larger house, based on Catherine’s Palace ( Pushkin) which I saw on my recent trip. It will be about 3 feet long. Maybe I can have blue birds and sparrows at the same time. As I said, you have inspired me.
