This is why I want trellises, vines and other assorted TALL plantings along this fence. Isn’t it just the loveliest view ever?
As you can see, there’s not much there right now, but it is definitely next year’s project, which means, as soon as the weather breaks, building and prepping the bed, and putting up the trellises (once I decide on which design to go with), as well as getting any fall plantings in.
So, any and all suggestions welcome!

Don’t get me wrong, these are very nice neighbors, but with 6 kids, there is always laundry on that fence, not to mention balls coming over it!
Plus, we would like the privacy.

Yah, I see your issues and I can understand why you want your privacy. Your beds look really lovely … even with that hanging “decoration” (oh my!!—LOL!!!). Trellis’ would be great along there … something nice and dense maybe.

Maybe you should offer to help your neighbour put up a clothsline :)

Hops is a tall vine that will grow very fast – just a suggestion, especially if you like making your own brew.

She has a clothesline.
She just has more laundry than line.

And I’m thinking of a nice 10’ tall privet hedge…grows wicked fast, and gives complete and utter privacy.

I like the privet hedge, but the park won’t allow it, lol. As it is, the trellises will have to top out at 6’h x 4’w with a minimum 30” gap between.

I guess you will have to grow TALL plants to fill up those 30” gaps!! How about small flowering bushes like Weigelas!

Good suggestion, but I want a lot of variety there, it is, after all, the longest bed I have, and from just about where the rug is hanging, all the way to the left, it gets more and more shade, going from full sun where the irises are, to fairly deep shade, where that bed meets the one directly beneath the trees.

Dini …. something perennial …. i do like Damacles suggestion …. but if perennial it woul return each year. Wishing you well ….. i have a similar problem with a nextdoor neighbour. He is a “collector” ..... of sorts.

no offence but if I were in your shoes I’ld do one thing

Move

Cedar hedges grow tall, are green year round. The taller the fence the better the neighbor!!

It’d be nice Greenthumb, but we’re on a fixed income (DH is disabled), so moving is not an option.
