I have been weeding and road running to get rocks for the past week.I have finally got the berm ready to plant when the weather warms up.It was a lot of work but I can hardly wait to see it all in bloom.

Sowed a row of showy Sunflower seeds at the very top yesterday.Today I am going to sow different coloured cosmos seed on the first layer from the top.And mixed Zinnia on the next layer. Not sure about the bottom layer yet.

Eklectic….It’s funny you should say that.As I was working on it I think nearly everyone in town came by to see what I was doing.(lol) I got to meet a lot of my neighbours and town folk that way. It was really great the way they would stop by and introduce themselves and give me some encouragement.Just waiting for the seeds to grow now.

I think it’s more that people like improvement, not just something different.. After all, you could just park a rusty school bus there.. That would be different.. ;)

Know when we started working on the outside of this place after we moved in, several people commented on how much better it looked.

Yesterday May 30/08 the former owners came by to see how things were coming. They were quite pleased to see all the work we have done. They gave me a picture of their berm last year 2007.Thought I would share it with eveyone. :)

I am sure the previous owners are so thankful you are taking such good care of their former home. It was hard for me to leave our old home, had been there for over 30 years, raising the kids, grandchildren beginning to arrive … lots of memories. AND, of course all the years of work put into my gardens. They were such a part of me and to leave them was very difficult. So when I went back for a visit, it brought me such pleasure to see how they were caring for the house and taking care of all my gardens. Also really fun to see what they had changed and added to both the house and yard.

Bon, I have to admit that I really like what you have done to the Berm better. The many tiers and rocks add such character and while even “plain” it looks good, once it blooms … oh my!!!! :-)

There is no “screwing up” here! Just happy and proud gardener!

And I agree with GranT!
Went back to the old house the year after we moved and “they” had pulled out all of the prize winning beds!
Even the neighbors were upset with them!!

I know what you mean Eklectic.I went by our old house last week and was very disappointed with how they ruined the gardens.Wish I could of brought all the establised perennials with me because they are not there now.New people are definitely not gardeners.

Sad wasn’t quite the word. Ticked would be more accurate. 30 years I put into that yard, andd they mowed it all down and planted grass!.

I am counting myself fortunate then … we had a “gardener” move into our old house. Granted he’s relatively new at it … but learning fast.

Yah, well I would be ticked off too if I found all my years of hard work were mowed down!!!! Probably good for your blood pressure if you DON’T go back there—LOL!!!!

Fortunately when we eventually move from here, we will going across country so I won’t have opportunity to come back and see whether the new owners will have taken care of all my flowers or not. I’m thinking that is probably a good thing.

Well when the times grows closer (and it may be a while yet), I have to do some research on gardening. We are heading to Arizona and I am not sure what grows there in the midst of all that heat during the summer. It will be a big change, and water is so precious there too … people just do not turn on a sprinkler like here … LOL!!!

my brother is in Arizona and he called home his first year when it rained: he was fascinated that what we would call a drizzle was labeled a torrential downpour!
So your rain barrel will be smaller than you are used to lol
