Hi all, thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to learning and sharing here at GT. I must admit that at my home I’m known as the plant murderer.

hahaa that’s funny
but you are “stubborn” I see, then, as you continue to strive to have a garden. Or as my Mom labels it “determined”.

Welcome to GT
How did you get the name woodlandchic? Do you have a lot of shade?

I do, always looking to chat about it.

I love the outdoors/plants and really desire a beautiful yard to enjoy with the family (includes dogs!)- that’s where the name stems from. We used to live in the country but now live in a neighborhood :( so I’m trying to bring some country/rustic feel to my home here. I live in Zone 8…not much shade.
Yes, I’m very “determined”!!! I am anxious for better weather to let me work on the yard some more- got a lot to work on! Last year was the first year we started working on the yard and here are some pics of what it looked like last summer…it’s a start. I’m still learning! My Yard
Thanks and looking forward to learning from all of you!!!

It’s so much fun to hear about the history behind the plants and the goals of the gardeners.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for all of the nice comments! Much appreciated!
Maybe with your expertise, I’ll be able to update with better pictures this summer- of a new improved yard! :)

I absolutely love your Angel Trumpet plant. Went on line to get more information … looks like here in Michigan it would be an annual, coming indoors for the winter. My question is has anyone grown this indoors??? It also mentioned that the liquid inside the seed pods shouldn’t be touched with bare skin … do the seed pods leak, or do you just need to be careful when handling them so as not to break them open? With grandkids around I don’t want to have to worry about them brushing up against the plant accidently and getting “sick”.

Do they just bloom at night?? I am intriqued. The catalog company that I like sells them; so I am half tempted to give one a try. Jen, how easy are they to grow?

Thanks GrandmaT- I got several Angel Trumpets from my husband’s aunt 2 yrs ago. (Spoke with her today to get some of your answers!) The 1st yr they barely grew. This summer they grew FAST and very beautiful blooms as well. Since we live in SC they get trimmed back and die out in winter, but don’t need to be dug up. They are poisonous. But, on that note, I have never seen any liquid substance and she hasn’t heard of that either. They bloom several times- and open in the daytime. When they are done blooming, they just fall on the ground! I haven’t had a bad experience picking up the old blooms with my skin.
As far as the ease…I still have them…If I can do it, anyone can!!:) Hope this helps! Oh and if you can I would give them a try…they come in white and pink also!

Thank you for the kind words on my “winter garden” ... I am propagating two new leaves, so am, of course, daily checking for “idy-bidy” roots.

Hey, it does keep me occupied till spring … :-)
