hibernating #8: a winter walk

« Part 7: a wintery (kind of) fairy 'garden' Part 8 of hibernating series Part 9: springspiration replacing hibernation.... »

Ah, hibernating is not much fun if you don’t brave the elements and enjoy winter’s biting love. February is a month I find hard to ‘bee with’ – goodness I’m getting antsy.

So I took Benny for a nice walkabout in the neighborhood. We walk down about 3 blocks to ‘circle park’ – indeed it is a park that is a circle – Benny runs his little nuts off and I lollygag behind (today snapping pictures as I went).

So, another thing to do while hibernating – go and experience that which you are hibernating from ;). (ha) Here’s a slideshow of our walkabout:

About the photos: The ‘shhhh’ tree is right next to a school, one street over from us. I wonder if it is a coincidence it is ‘shhh’-ing…Ha. Very clever people out there. The two pictures of rabbit tracks; one was taken in circle park and reminds me of some sort of rabbit-braille (or perhaps squirrel), the other tracks are in our frontyard – that is one long-legged rabbit – notice how the tracks start with what looks like a heart? The image of ‘bella’ with snow-wings on front (women statue) is right next to our house – she is usually surrounded by cosmo’s come summer (and some good ol’ geraniums). I think she’s praying for sun. Or a hot buttered rum. Or both.

yeah, I’m afraid I am not doing very well with ‘bee-ing with what is’ lately. Having a camera on my walk sure helped to do that though – I noticed things I didn’t see before (Like one warty looking tree on the corner we turn at to get back to our cabana). The succulent also still lives. yahoo.

Hey Soobee, you’re right the best way to get through winter is to get out and experience it. What a nice sunny day you have had. Looks like Benny enjoyed it too. I love the snow people. I really enjoyed the walk with you and Benny.
We have very little snow here. I’m almost afraid to start my winter-sowing project as I don’t have any snow to place the containers into. Maybe that doesn’t matter—-maybe it just needs to be cold, which it is.

What a lovely walk! I enjoyed the shadows and the tracks and of course the snow people. I was outside today too. Cold, but the sun was shining and birds were everywhere. Even the goats romped around the pasture for awhile until they complained that the snow was too cold for their hooves. Thanks for bringing me along with you on your winter walk with Benny.

Very nice display by pictures of your walk. What a great difference between tropical landscape and what you have shown. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Soobee, I have an idea for you to consider. I really enjoyed your winter walk and slide show. I think it would be fun if you wanted to post a walk for each season. If you do, I will be looking for them. I watched and enjoyed the slide show again this morning. Thanks!

This a great idea! To expand it a bit further, perhaps you could include more sights from your neighbourhood or region. I loved seeing the different snowpeople. Winnipeg is a beautiful city with interesting areas. If you visit any of the more famous areas, pictures would be much appreciated. (and it would give you an excuse to practice posting more pics :-) teh-heh.

I think that is a great idea! I will indeed post more walks and sights in the future – we have Festival du Voyageur coming up this month and I think the ice sculptures and maple syrup on a stick would make great photos! Thanks Robin/Iris – stay tuned (ah Bon you funny…). It is great to be able to ‘chin wag’ and share with you all. cheerio ! Have a great weekend!

Great pics. I live 10 mins walking distance from a place called Cullen Park (formerly Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village – for you Ontarians). I shall take some pics there throughout the spring and summer.
