This morning I harvested this weeks bounty:

before:
after:
I got bold, and took the dill down to the “ground”. I’m not supposed to thin more than 1/3rd at a time, but there is some new growth ready to spring up from down there, and all the stems were the same height otherwise, just about touching the lights.
I am so not expecting this luck from the real garden – once the snow finally fades….

Scott,
Nice garden, what recipes have you used them for and do you talk to your plants? My wife wants one of these indoor growers she takes care of the indoor herbs and I take care of the outdoor veggies.

Recipes so far…
I’ve put a little parsley in chicken soup – Homemade stock, carrots, potato, tomato, mixed grains (millet, quinoa, rice…)
I’ve also put some of the mint in a mohito or two – squirt lime juice over ice, add 1 part rum, 2 parts lemon/lime soda, and a sprig or two of mint.
The rest is currently in the freezer (and overwhelming me!!!)
I’ll be making purple pesto when I’ve collected enough leaves, and see a few margherita pizzas, panini, and other pasta bakes in the near future.
To date I haven’t really cared for dried cilantro, but i do like the citrusy taste of the fresh (vs the soapy of dried) so am looking forward to revisit some of my mexican recipes, veggie chili, etc…
Good idea, I suppose I should start sharing some recipes here… I wouldn’t be the first. until then check out my food blog.
