Give aways and downsizing - 6 replies We are going to drown in pots come end of the warm season. We have plenty of plants that would appreciate more TLC on their own. Funny, plants grow on us like pets – we want to provide care, we have no time, we feel guilty etc. Anyhow come this autumn we need to build a functional greenhouse to store our fast growing “babies” b... |

the best heating for a greenhouse - 19 replies We’re thinking about turning our large shed into a greenhouse. We have plenty of glass panels collected over years with this idea in mind. Our banana trees and BOP won’t fit at home after this season and short of cutting them down we need to come up with alternative solution. Hubby is handy and can do anything with some directions. So I went to the nearby Indian gro... |

Bamboo plant - 17 replies Does anyone here know where to buy an Ontario friendly bamboo? Those offered in Vancouver are way too expensive. I’ve been thinking about yellow grove bamboo which lives wild in Pennsylvania and perhaps with climate change would survive our temps? Prices for a bamboo are outrageous here considering that it is mostly a grass weed anywhere e... |

Discovering the world of orchids - 8 replies This past weekend we went to the annual orchid show in Toronto Botanical Gardens. I think I’m being hooked up on orchids! Turns out they are 77 species of wild orchids in Canada out of which 61 in Ontario and out of which 44 in the Bruce Peninsula – some 3 hours away from Toronto. I’m already looking forward to the next shows: ... |
