Another mystery plant...

Blog entry by Donna posted 91 days ago 156 reads 0 times favorited 7 comments Add to Favorites

ok guys. I’d like to know if any of you have seen this plant. I got it from my sisters in Kentucky but she doesn’t know its name. It blooms in late summer, early fall and has purple bell shaped flowers in clusters.

Looks to me like it is a variety of Physostegia commonly known as obedient plant.

Thanks, Bon and Xploreorganics!! That is what it is!!! It’s been driving me crazy trying to find it. Now I can add it to my Excel spreadsheet of all my plants. My husband helped me set it up and it has all the plants’ needs ie. moisture, sun, etc and a link to a website with more details. It has really helped me learn more about what’s growing out there!

That’s it, Xploreorganics. Some people call it the disobedient plant, because it spreads so much, but it is attractive. I have it in one spot near the outdoor fireplace.

Obedient plant so called because you can rotate the flower around the stem and it stays where you put it. Quite fun to play with.

That’s cool! I wondered why it got it’s name. Thanks for the info.
