HI MELANGER IN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION, I PRESUME YOU MEAN EAT OR SWALLOW THE SEEDS BY MISTAKE ITS NO AS THERE IS A 400 MICRON FILTER FITTED TO EVERY MOUTHPIECE, THIS WAS A PRECAUTION I TOOK KNOWING THAT SOME SEEDS E.G. DIGITALIS ARE TOXIC . MY LITTLE INVENTION IS QUITE SAFE TO USE AND BELIEVE ME ITS SIMPLE TO PICK UP AND PLACE 30 TO 40 SEEDS A MINUTE WITH GREAT ACCURACY.
A TINY PETUNIA SEED IS 4 OR 5 TIMES BIGGER THAN THE INSIDE BORE OF THE TUBE IN THE SMALL PROBE.
BUT THE VERY SMALL SEED LIKE BEGONIA SEMPERFLORENS OR LOBELIA IT WILL PICK UP PROBABLY 3 OR 4 SEEDS AT A TIME.
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT WHICH PROVED TO BE VERY USEFUL AND PROMPTED ME TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE THIS EXPLANATION.
WHAT HAVE YOU GOT ON THE SURFACE OF YOUR VEGETABLE GARDEN IT LOOKS LIKE STONE CHIPPINGS ?REGARDS MIKE

if you mean in the large empty bed, its bad dry soil and clay which I’ve dug up
if you mean in the seedling pots then im not really sure, its just stuff i got in my potting mix.. wood chips perhaps.
thanks for the explanation Mike. this is a sensational idea.
I do have a question as an amateur seed planter. do you normally plant one seed at a time in each little hole or several per little hole. or does it depend on the plant?
cheers

I WAS LOOKING AT THE EARTH IN YOUR BED I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY STONY . I VERY OFTEN JUST SOW SEEDS ONE AT A TIME INTO PLUGTRAYS OR CELLS IF THEY DON`T GERMINATE ITS NO GREAT LOSS AS EACH CELL HAS ONLY A TINY AMOUNT OF COMPOST IN ITTHIS IS ONLY SUITABLE GENERALLY FOR NON ROOT VEGETABLES.
IF I MAKE UP MY OWN SEED TAPES I USE STRIPS OF BROWN PAPER WITH WATER BASED GLUE OR PASTE ON IT ABOUT 12 MM. OR 1/2 ” WIDE AND SOW SAY CARROT SEED 2” APART PLACING 2 SEEDS AT EACH STATION AND PULL OUT THE WEAK ONE WHEN THE LEAVES ARE DEVELOPING. THE ALTERNATIVE TO THIS IS TO CRAWL ALONG AND THIN OUT THE SEEDLINGS BY HAND. ITS MUCH NICER TO SIT AT A TABLE OR GREENHOUSE BENCH LISTENING TO THE RADIO AND HAVING A PINT OF CIDER . FIVE 3 FOOT STRIPS MAKES A ROW IN MY VEG GARDEN AND IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MINUTES, ALSO MY EYES FOCUS BETTER DOING IT THIS WAY THROUGH MY GLASSES. INCIDENTLY THERE IS NOT MUCH WRONG WITH MY EYESIGHT BUT MY ARMS WERE GETTING TOO SHORT.
REGARDS MIKE

What a great idea! I would never have figured that one out. I over engineer almost everything.
e.g. my cookies are to die from! <g>
