My wife and I went to Canada Blooms earlier this week. We were somewhat disappointed with it, one more time, and decided that it really doesn’t stimulate us the way it certainly did in the early years. They were spectacular. There seemed to be less exhibitors this year, and the number of people appeared to be less, thus making for no line ups ( at least when we went ). The entry was spectacular though.
Today, we went to the International Centre and attended the Successful Gardening show.

It, also, seemed to have less in it. However, we did get talking to some of the growers, and I came home with another tree peony, this time a white one.

I got it home and planted it immediately
I also picked up a lovely double clematis, “Josephine”, grown in Moorefield, ON.
It was planted as well, upon arriving home.
I did also find a nice bag of Caladium bulbs which my wife fancied for our shade garden, but I have put off planting those until a few weeks from now, or until I hear advice otherwise from the gardening experts here at GT.

My daughter and I have went to Canada Blooms in the past. It was spectacular for sure. But I found that I go to ‘over-load’ with so much to see and so many people around. I am envious of the tree peony that you bought! My beautiful yellow one was distroyed this winter when the men were siding the house. I could have cried over it!
I’ll bet the Josephine clematis will be a show stopper too. Lucky you. :-)

Are there any other gardening shows in the Toronto, London, or surrounding areas worth going to? What colour
is the clematis?

Barrie has a spring home and garden show which had a booth in last year.It was like being in prison waiting and waiting for some one, anybody to show up…......mostly vendors looking at each others booths.
Out of ten…..............2

Jroot, the Josephine is beautiful. It reminds me of a Passion Flower, but without all the drama! There is an excellent
city-wide yard sale here outside of London on Father’s day weekend. The whole city-I want to say Killworth-has a yard sale where they sell everything. My husband went last year (I was working), but this year, I am going to go. It
is where he bought the Calla bulbs that did so well. They also sell seeds, plants, etc. I can’t wait to see what I can find for my yard. It is well-worth attending. Bought some dog boots for a dollar for 4, and gave some to a friend. She used them after her dog had foot surgery-that was good. My Boo Boo wore them for a few minutes (I wanted to see if they would be handy for winter walks) and did such high-stepping like a Tennessee walking horse. We laughed until we cried! Yeah for yard sales! And new plants and seeds!

I love the yard sales that have plants for sale, too. Something from someone else’s garden! You know it’s got to grow. Of course, you might want to be careful, somethings like to grow ‘way’ too much! :-)

Josephine also reminds me of some of my two-toned iris.
Sounds like that London area sales will be good. I wish I lived closer.
