Keeping the squirrels at bay

I am wondering if anyone has any special techniques to keep the squirrels at bay. They are eating me out of bird feed and hopefully not my tulips. I did set up a scarecrow around the tulips beds at the back. Remember Pond Man. He is now Ski Man Scare Crow watching over the tulips. The squirrels went through a bag of mixed seed in a day. I was told to try safflower, because they don’t like it. I am not so sure of that because they are eating that also. It is neat to see the birds though, when they come.
