Spring

I am well into getting the seeds started. I usually have trouble with bolting and by using the winter sowing method I hope to prevent this.
I have started some seeds inside and have had some strange results. The first being that i have tried to get Exotiic Love Vine (Mina Lobata) to germinate. I soaked and chip 12 seeds back in January and one immediatly sprouted a root before it hit the dirt so I potted it up in a 4 inch pot. It has grown about 12 inches and now has 4 flowers on it. It is suppose to take 180 days to flower. Also none of the other seeds have germinated!
I have germinated two different types of poppies at the suggestion of Dahlita. The one all sprouted in 3 days and I have potted them. The second type, Coral Reef ,oriental is just about to sprout.
Of course the other best part of spring gardening is going around and seeing what survived the winter and is up. The rabbits helped prune an euonomus and my two sambucus ,black lace but they all look o’kay ( and he had to eat!)

Hi, Sorry I have not kept you up to date.First I am not very wise in the way of computotrs , second I need my daugther to help me get the pictures on and thirdly, my winter sowing was so successful that I am busy replanting all the seedlings. If there is anyone near Fergus or even KW that would like some let me know: my friends can only take so much!!lol.
I have had a hard time with the wind. The temp hasn’t been a problem but I have had a lot of wind damage and unfortunatly the love vine has suffered.I now have it in a sheltered area but it is taking a time to recover. I will certainly let you know and if I get some seeds I will share them with you.
My potagere gardens are doing great. I have been eating my own lettuce for over a month and my peas are in full flower.I look forward to sitting outside and eating them while smelling the lilies.
I was at our local stock yard and saw a beautiful Epiphylum; huge!! The owner was realy helpful about advice so I am off to repot and fertilize.I also picked up a Tumbling Tom which I am going to put into a hanging basket.
Have a great day.

Yes I heard the same thing.I would not know what to do if we didn’t get some more.I still have a bit of winter sowing to do.So I will just try and keep a positive attitude.
