One of the best ways to get ideas for our garden is to visit other’s gardens. In this blog I will post some of my favorites near and far.

Kew Gardens
Summer of 2006 we traveled to Europe and visited several incredible gardens. Kew is located just outside of London, a short ride on the tube. We only spent a few hours there but would most surely return. The gardens were huge and it was virtually impossible to see all of it in a day.

Beautiful borders organized by color. Notice that they plant in large groupings and color drifts.

Border with sunflowers

Zinias in border

Daylillies and cannas

Another view

Purple Border with Heliotrope

Pathway with flower border

The borders were 50 – 100 feet long.

Yellow border with grasses

Red and purple borders. The grass was dry due to the rules that limit watering.

Japanese maple

Japanes maple with hydrangea

Amazing grass border

Allium with bees.

Giant Leaves

Student Garden plots:

Fountain with glass house

Thanks for that tour. I was planning on visiting the KEW gardens this fall when I am in London. You have whetted my appetite.
