« Part 1: June 15/09 Part 2 of Poppy Garden series no next part

Cut down all the dead poppies and planted a bunch of annuals and a few perennials in place of them.I hope to add more perennials to this garden soon.It will be hard to stop the poppies from choking out the perennials next spring but I should be able to weed them back so I can grow something else too. This is the poppy garden now.

Wow, you have done a lot of work there, Bon. But with great results. It’s very pretty. I see a very healthy sunflower…..on it’s way to a contest entry. :-) All the flowers are very pretty, but don’t you love those gazinnias. This is the first year that I’ve grown them and they are so intersting, the different colour and colour combinations. Everything is certainly looking good.

Bon: Nice photos. What is the stone creature? It’s name? Why did you choose him?

Lots of work, indeed. Look how nice and loose that soil looks. Your plants will love it.

July 15
I can hardly believe it but this garden hasn’t taken off yet at all.The plants are just not growing in this cold weather.Even the row of lavatera seeds looks to be the same size in height.

Such a lovely garden!! Pretty Gazania’s (quickly becoming a favorite of mine!) and are those Yellow Buttercups I see in the second picture? Haven’t been able to find them for this house … they are really a pretty plant.
Nice job with this bed … can really see all the hard work that was involved.
