Hi : I have been gardending for about 30 years.I mostly plant annual flowers because I love a lot of color and variety.I live in zone 5a. My favourite flowers to plant are-- petunia, zinnia, cosmos, marigold, dahlias, amaranthus but of course I love nearly all flowers (lol) I like to try something new every year. Not into growing veggies or fruit trees or herbs.Love all the spring flowers that come up as soon as the snow leaves.Love joining seed exchanges in the fall. Just moved into a new house in Dec. It has established gardens already. Can hardly wait to see what comes up.Of course I will have to plant all my favourites in there too. (lol) And probably change everything around because that's what I love to do.Can't wait to get my hands dirty.

This striped zinnia popped out after I cut down the hollyhock in the front garden.Funny thing is I have never had one this colour before. The petals are outlined in white.

I had planted some aster seed this spring in the front garden where the hollyhocks were. Now that I have cut them down these little gems popped out.

Well most of them are in bloom right now.I got one really crazy looking one that is all green. How weird is that? Some of the colours are quite nice though.

I’m really looking forward to the planting season. It’s going to be extra fun this year as I share the experiences with everyone here and learn tips/tricks from everyone

Hi everyone: I am having a problem with the map on my home page. For some reason it is way off course from where I actually live.Is there a way I can go back and correct it?I can’t seem to figure it out.

go into your “garden” and click “edit”
then in the map click where you want the red flag to go and voila.. oh and then save the editing, of course.

Spent the day going through my seeds to see what goes where in my new gardens. There is already a lot of established ones around the house and yard.It will be interesting to see what treasures come up this year.I have so many plans it will take me all summer (lol)

I bet you are excited to see what comes up in your new garden, hope you get lots of nice surprises.I too like lots of annuals, and when the gardens are full,I plant them in containers.I only have about 50 containers right now,so I should get some more.LOL.

Hi Everyone: While going through my garden books and stuff I came across one of my favourite flower poems. Just thought I would share it with you all.
Bring Me All Your Flowers Now
I would rather have a single rose
From the garden of a friend
Than have the choicest flowers
When my stay on earth must end
I would rather hve the kindest words
Which may now be said to me
Than flattered when my heart is still
And life has ceased to be
I would rather have a loving smile
From friends I know are true
Than tears shed round my casket
When this world I’ve bade adieu
Bring me all your flowers
Whether pinik or white or red
I’d rather have one blossom now
Than a truck load when I’m dead.
Hope you enjoyed it.
